As promised! With a short description of the slides. I didn’t say much more than I am writing down here, 20 seconds is not that long..

1. Old negative – Photography became a serious thing when I was 17 years old and bought my first slr.
2. Video (videostill here) – I studied media art at the AKI in Enschede, so I worked with video mostly instead of photography.

7. 8. 9. Macro (close-up) photography – my view on the world: I do not see ‘overviews’, I see the world in bits and pieces, fascinating little pieces. What most people find boring and ignore, I find fascinating. I try to show them there is so much more around us. Enjoy the little things. Some things can be seen as a metaphor, if you look closely..
10. 11. 12. Urban photography – I love the old, broken, left behind, cracked, perished stuff. It has its’ own story. It has character, mystery. It is fascinating and here in the Netherlands, it’s broken down way too easily, shoved away, made invisible. Sad. I’ll have to go to a foreign country for this, some day.
13. 14. 15. My daily photo project with my iPhone, that I started in may this year. I wanted my unprejudiced, open-minded look on photography back, enjoy the experiment again, give myself a fresh pair of eyes and force myself to create something every single day. It definitely worked. I’m keeping this up for at least a year- or that’s the plan.
16. 17. 18. 19. 20. Self-portraits – I am using myself for these, because I can express what I want to show in these photos best myself. It’s very hard to translate emotions and pictures to something someone else can visualize for you and then capture them.. It’s also a practical thing, because I’m around 24/7. I can jump up and work on a series of photos any time I want, whether that’s in the middle of the night or early in the morning, during the day, in a weekend. I am showing different things here. Emotions, aspects of being human and being a member of this society, struggles. Sometimes I’m just visualizing something I see in my head. Sometimes music inspires me.
